When I left the U.S. to live in Barcelona, Bush was in his first term as President, we were a couple years into the War on Terror, America was a nation filled with fear and hate, and there was nobody like Rachel Maddow on TV.
Times have changed. Hallelujah and praise Jesus, for once.
I love Rachel Maddow. She represents a new generation of young, intelligent journalists in the U.S. who helped turn the tide to get Obama elected and McCain/Palin rejected. It’s not unusual to see women TeeVee presenters nowdays, but they’re all too often the same physical and mental type: vapid Barbie-doll “spokesmodels”. Or, in the case of Fox News, “hateful window-dressing.”
Enter Rachel Maddow, who not only doesn’t conform to the Barbie-spokesmodel typical of Fox News, but also has the brilliance, integrity and class that the Barbies lack. She is also the first openly gay TV host that America has seen.
Here’s a sign of the times: Rachel Maddow interviewing one of her idols, Lars Ulrich. This is the first time I’ve seen an important female TV presenter click so well with a rock star.
It’s important to remember that Rachel Maddow does not host an entertainment show; she is actually a political commentator, which makes the interview with Lars all the more unusual.
I like this interview because, in spite of Rachel’s professionalism, she’s not afraid to be vulnerable, to admit personal things about herself, and also show her admiration for Lars. I believe that Rachel Maddow has a great future ahead of her as a broadcaster.

Thank you for posting this. It touched me the comments on the Bay Area, because I´m love with the BA, if I ever move to USA, it´ll be to SFBA for sure!!! Also, for a second Lars seemed human, hehehe.
See ya tonite at AK, again
Ha, ha…I loved the Simon & Garfunkel comment!!
