This was the first time I’d ever seen this band… or “these bands”, as it was like three shows rolled into one. Great songs, incredibly versatile musicians, real personalities — and Hank III is the real deal. A true star, like his grampa.
This video is from the transitional phase from the country show into the hardcore part… the sounds of these traditional instruments (thunderous upright bass played like a machine gun, pedal steel guitar, violin!) made for a truly infernal sound.
A three-plus hour show, no filler or weak spots whatsoever. A unique and unforgettable experience.
I’ve just got deep into him a couple of weeks ago. I was always “afraid” of country music and this guy is reverting my thoughts so fast that I cannot even explain it. He looks so honest and true… Is he coming to Shanghai soon? I don’t think so
